Festivities!
The Fall
Festival this past weekend was a lot of fun! Thanks to everyone who stopped by!
We even sold a few pieces; the pink and white chevron dresser, blue end table, bench, and a yellow mirror I painted at the last minute.

At the last
minute I also finished these end tables. I super love them! You can see them in the pictures from the festival.
I wasn’t able to
get a “cute” picture of them before the festival, but you get the idea.
I planned to
sand and re-stain the top. I used Mini-Wax dark walnut stain and just followed
the directions on the can.
Unfortunately, I
didn’t wear gloves because I’m too lazy to buy some/I forget, and my hands
looked habitually dirty for the next two or three days.
Back to the end
tables: I wasn’t sure about what color I should paint them, so I asked family
and friends for color suggestions. The majority vote was white, and white they
became!
Thanks for
reading!

Pink and White Chevron Dresser
I was given this dresser by a neighbor. The same neighbor for whom I painted this hutch. It's not real wood, had sharpie in a few places, and it was missing some knobs. But really, it didn't look too terrible.
Chevron is a whole knew thing for me. Most of the time, I don't even like chevron. For some reason, this piece was crying out, "PAINT ME CHEVRON!" Creepy, right?
Thus it began.
And then I ran out of tape.
I read a couple of tutorials about painting chevron since I've practically shunned all chevron since it got all trendy. I wanted to do it right! Anyway, all of the bloggers said to wait until the paint tried to peel the paint off....WRONG!! So wrong. Against my habit of peeling the the tape while the paint is still wet, I waited. This is what happened:
GAH! Peeled triangle! Maybe it was just the paint I used. I got it in the reject isle, so I'm not sure what color it really is, but it feels kind of latex-y. If that's even a word. It's fixed now.
A final look at the before and after:
Would I do Chevron again? Hmmm. Maybe, but it has to be big-fat Chevron. Not that skinny stuff.
Thanks for looking!

A Tufted Seat
Last week I tried tufting for the first time. I took a bench that looked like this:
And with a button kit, upholstery needle, duck cloth, and love made it look like this:
Hooray for first tries! I want to try diamond tufting next. You know, the really incredible stuff that looks like this:

Roadside Table: A Tale of Rescue!
Once upon a time I went to a tiny town called Kidder...technically, I have a Kidder address, but I don't live in Kidder. There are approximately 299 people in this little town.
Anyway, I'm getting off the subject. I went to Kidder and saw this table:
And I thought to myself, "Self! That table needs some lovin'."
Especially since it got abandoned.
So I texted My Honeypie and hinted that I wanted him to pick it up for me (I was supposed to be in a meeting) and he went and saved it from it's fate as dumpster debris.
I had some extra paint from painting my door an impossible green, and some extra white from our walls and it became:
It looks a little yellow in these pictures because of the lighting, but it's really this color:
Don't mind the disarray. It's currently how we live.
